Malaysia or also known as “Tanah Melayu” long ago is a Southeast Asian nation that located on strategic sea-lane that disclosures it to global trade and foreign culture. Hinduism and Buddhism from India conquered early regional history, reaching their greatest during the control of the Sumatra-based Srivijaya civilization. The adoption of Islam by the 15th century during that time saw the increase of an amount of sultanates, the greatest prominent of which was the Malacca. Islam has had a deep influence on the Malay people, but not to forget Islam has also been influenced by them.

The Portuguese were the first European colonial rules to begin themselves on the Southeast Asia, seizing Malacca in 1511, followed by the Dutch in 1641. But, it was the British who, after primarily founding bases at Jesse ton, Kuching, Penang and Singapore, eventually secured their domination across the territory that is now Malaysia.

During World War II, Japanese attack has ended British domination in Malaysia. A hard military response was required to end the revolution and take about the establishment of an independent, multi-racial Federation of Malaya on 31 August 1957. Against this setting, independence for the Federation within the Commonwealth was approved on 31 August 1957, with Tunku Abdul Rahman as the first prime minister of Malaysia.
