The 1998 XVI Commonwealth Games Were Held In Malaysia
The 1998 Commonwealth Games were held in Kuala Lumpur,
Malaysia from 11 to late September 1998. The 1998 Commonwealth Games be there
the first held in an Asian motherland and the last Commonwealth Games of the
20th time. This was also the first period the games seized place in a nation
with a head of national other than the Head of the Commonwealth. The 16th
Commonwealth Games opening ceremony took place on 11 September 1998. The games
were officially opened by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Dr. Mahathir bin
Mohamad. 'Unity towards Progress' was the theme of the opening ceremony. 69 national
teams were represented at the 1998 Commonwealth Games including Australia,
England, Scotland, New Zealand and Wales. The main venue was the National Stadium, Bukit Jalil, National Sport
Complex, Bukit Jalil and Bukit Kiara Sports Complex
