Nasi Kandar Is The Most Favorite Food In Malaysia
Nasi Kandar is a popular Malaysian dish and has been voted as
the most favorite dish among Malaysian, which originates from Penang. It is a
meal of steamed rise which can be plain or mildly flavored, and served with a
variety of curries and side dishes for example fried chicken, curry fish, squid
and many more. Traditionally, Nasi Kandar is always served with its side dishes
on a single plate. Nowadays, small bowls are used for the side dishes. Yet, the
curry sauce mix is always poured directly onto the rice.
By time goes by, several series restaurants have appeared
such as Nasi Kandar Line Clear, Nasi Kandar Nasmir, Pelita Nasi Kandar, and
Kayu Nasi Kandar because of high demand of this dish. Traditionalists have doubtful
its taste compared to the original Penang versions. In Perlis and Perak, the
rice is colored yellow with some herbs and spice and also the dish is mentioned
as "Nasi Ganja”.

Tasty! |
Nowadays, Nasi Kandar vendor was famous for wearing their
dirty sarong and shirt, served Nasi Kandar with cheap tools and broken chairs
or stools. But today, the appearance and reputation has completely overturned
and have now made way for uniformed waiters, remarkable clean restaurant, well
organize and in fact they still serve Malaysian tasty food. But, what I believe
is Nasi Kandar not only a part of Malaysia’s dishes but it’s more than that. Something
like makes Malaysian mixed from generation to generation.

Nasi Lemak The National Dish of Malaysia
Nasi lemak is a fragrant rice dish cooked in coconut milk and
pandan leaf commonly found in Malaysia, where it is considered the national
dish. Traditionally, nasi lemak served with anchovies, peanuts, boiled egg, cucumber,
and traditional chili paste. As a more considerable meal, nasi lemak may also
be served with an added side dish such as fried chicken, cuttlefish in chili,
small fried fish, cockles, and on special cases beef stewed in coconut milk and
spices.
Nasi lemak is widely eaten in Malaysia, usually consumed as
breakfast and this unique dish often comes wrapped in banana leaves, newspaper,
or it in some shops served on a plate. It's cooked in coconut milk, with pandan
leaves and even ginger or a stalk of lemon grass. Nasi Lemak is available on
almost every street corner and in almost every local-themed restaurant.
Nasi lemak also is served in neighboring countries like
Singapore, Brunei and Indonesia however nowhere is it more extremely imbedded
in the food culture than Malaysia. “Nasi” in Malay means rice, and “lemak” is explained
in the cooking context to mean enriched because of it is enriched with coconut
milk. However, the word “lemak” means fat in Malay. But then to straight away
translate the word nasi lemak as “fat rice” would be exactly linguistically
wrong.
